Kaizen Seminar Held in Ethiopia


Kaizen, Ethiopia organized a seminar last Thursday on how to implement the philosophy of Kaizen in the country. The seminar was held at the Ethiopia Hotel.   
The Ethiopian Kaizen organized the seminar for those organization engaged in the areas of public relations and media with the aim of the promotion and dissemination of the concepts of Kaizen to a wider audience.
It is to be remembered that the Ethiopian government requested Kaizen training back in 2009. After which the Japan International Cooperation Agency sent a Japanese Kaizen consultant team in response to this request and the Ministry of Industry has been working with the Japanese teams for the realization of the training with the aim of implementing quality and productivity improvements.
Kaizen Ethiopia recently awarded the ‘Kaizen Award’ to three Ethiopian companies for the first time. The three companies which received the award are Kadisco Chemical Industry, Zenith Gebse-Eshet Ethiopia Ltd and Maru Metal Industry.
The companies were awarded for showing the most significant improvement in productivity through utilizing the Kaizen Philosophy.
The three companies were selected from a highly competitive pool because of the notable improvement seen in the quality of their products, increased productivity, improved safety conditions and the enhanced relationship between management and employees said Gethaun Tadesse, Director General of Kaizen Ethiopia, speaking at the awards ceremony held at the Ethiopia Hotel earlier this week.
The companies were also able to demonstrate a stronger culture of teamwork which contributed to higher profits he noted.
