Tovey: Bafana-Ethiopia game not a six-pointer 

Neil Tovey tells Goal that Bafana would still have a great chance of qualifying for the 2014 Fifa World Cup even if they fail to beat Ethiopia next Sunday

Former Bafana captain Neil Tovey has told Goal that he was impressed with the way Gordon Igesund’s troops played against CAR, especially Dean Furman, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Eric Mathoho.
Tovey added that Bafana played according to instructions and he believes that it was always going to be easy against Central African Republic. Bafana thumped CAR 3-0 in Cameroon.
“I thought Bafana were organized against CAR and the players followed the instructions. We knocked the ball well and never gave them spaces. I was impressed with Furman, Tshabalala and Mathoho at the back,” Tovey told Goal.

The former AmaKhosi skipper doesn’t believe Bafana’s game against Ethiopia is a must-win, but he understands that Bafana should avoid a defeat against the Ethiopians.
“I don’t think Bafana’s game against Ethiopia is a six-pointer. I mean, we just have to go there and get a result. Even if we draw against them, then we would still have a chance to qualify depending on how we play in our last game (against Botswana),” he said.
Tovey has also advised Igesund to use the same approach he used against CAR next Sunday, but he wants Bafana to be patient in their build-ups.

“I wouldn’t want our boys to be under pressure against Ethiopia, but they should know that losing is not an option. We just have to stick to our game plan and be patient in our build-ups. No need to change our tactics,” added Tovey.
