Ethiopia: Demeke Calls On Ethiopian Diaspora to Strengthen Participation 

Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnin has called on Ethiopian diaspora to strengthen their participation on the ongoing development efforts at home.
He made the call on a recognition program held following the launching of the diaspora policy on Saturday. The over 2.5 million Ethiopian diaspora has a huge potential for development of the nation, he said.
The government has been working to create enabling environment for the diaspora in understanding of their development capacity, Demeke said.
The participation of the diaspora is advancing in investment, job creation and the building of democratic system, he added.
He urged the Ethiopians and Ethiopian origins to strengthen their contribution in mega projects like the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, assuring them the construction of the Dam would not be stopped.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Tedros Adhanom for his part stressed the need to reinforce the support of the diaspora to nullify the negative acts of some Egyptian politicians against the Renaissance Dam.
Tedros also said that Ethiopia would continue to work with Egypt to overcome the negative mission of some politicians regarding the Dam.
