Egypt Welcomes PM Hailemariam's Statements On GERD



Egypt's Supreme Committee for Water has welcomed recent statements by Ethiopia's Prime Minister Hailemariam that Ethiopia would always take Egypt's water needs into consideration.

The Committee said in a meeting headed by Egyptian Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi this week that the Egyptian government was keen on reaching an urgent agreement to serve the best interests of all parties as part of a real partnership with Ethiopia and Sudan.

The Committee said that Egypt was seeking to cooperate with Ethiopia and Sudan regarding the Renaissance Dam project, stressing the importance of political will by all three parties.

It said the Egyptian government had this political will, and it was looking forward to forward to a trilateral meeting between the water ministers of the three countries as soon as possible.
