Ethiopia Starts Exporting Metal Products

Ethiopia has earned foreign currency from export of metal products for the first time, the Metal Industry Development Institute has announced.
According to Hailu Abebe, deputy Communications head with the Institute, the initiative was taken in line with the Growth and Transformation Plan's (GTP) target to expand the production capacity of the manufacturing sector.
Over 50 private companies in the manufacturing sector had been selected to undertake the task.
Accordingly, the Ethiopian Steel Profiling and Building PLC brought the nation foreign currency amounting to more than 6 million Birr by exporting 25 tons of metal.
The Institute vowed to support such initiatives and called on others to follow suit.
