Ethiopia decline Egypt friendly

Supersport.com can reveal that Egypt sent a request to have the match played at home but on the other hand Ethiopia requested if the same game could be played in Addis leading to a deadlock.

A source at the federation who sought anonymity told supersport.com, "I can confirm Egypt requested Ethiopia for a friendly but due to the insecurity and uncertainty in the country we could not accept the offer but when we requested if the same friendly could be played in Addis they were not also ready to travel."

"We have to take care of the safety of our players that is why we could not accept the offer though this does not mean we don't respect Egypt," the source told Supersport.com.

Ethiopia had been seeking to play both Ghana and Cameroon in friendlies but neither has not materialised with only 11 days before they clash with Nigeria in a World Cup play offs in Addis Ababa.
