Ethiopian runner wins King’s Lynn GEAR 10k race for second successive year

Ethiopian runner Tadele Geremew triumphed in today’s Grand East Anglian Run (GEAR) for the second year in succession.

The athlete completed the 10km course in sweltering temperatures around King’s Lynn in 30mins 45secs, just 27secs short of the course record which he set last year.
The heat made for a wonderful atmosphere at the start/finish line by the Tuesday Market Place but required the runners to be at their best - so it was no surprise that professional athlete Faye Fullerton stormed through to take first in the women’s category, with a time of 35mins 14secs.
She finished ahead of Nicole Roberts, who recorded a time of 35mins 14secs.
Hundreds of competitors from professional runners to one person who dressed up as Mr Blobby took part in the event, which chief course marshall Phil Davies described as a “mini London Marathon”.
He praised the “fantastic atmosphere” of the event and congratulated all 83 marshalls who helped to make it such a success.
