Malawi: Lilongwe Gets Ethiopian
Ethiopian Airlines will use Lilongwe airport as its third regional hub in Africa under influence of its new partnership in Malawi Airlines.
Recently, Ethiopian Airlines bought 49% equity shareholding of Malawi Airlines as part of its strategy to compete with foreign carriers.
The remaining 51% will be held by the Malawian government and Malawian private investors.
Tewolde Gebremariam, the Ethiopian CEO said, "Ethiopian and the newly formed Malawi Airlines will harmonize their flight schedules so as to provide seamless and best connectivity options for travellers within, to and from the Southern Africa region."
Clients will now have an easier access for reaching Lilongwe when flying with Ethiopian Airlines or Air Malawi.
