Ethiopia's Nyala
Motors S.C, exlusive distributor of motor vehicles and equipments
announced plans to establish assembly plant for Nissan vehicles in Ethiopia.
Abraham Abegaz, CEO of Nyala Motors, said the plan might take up to five years.
“Currently, everything is imported here, but we want to go beyond that and do the actual assembling work and manufacture spare parts too which will benefit the country, because components will become available locally and we will also be able to employ more people,” Abraham said.
Nyala Motors has been recognized as one of the top four National Sales Companies (NSCs) globally for the year 2013 by Nissan.
“I am very glad that Nissan has recognized our efforts and the performance we have registered,” Abraham he told journalist at a press conference held at the company’s Headquarters on Wednesday.
“This recognition will contribute immensely to our plans of setting up an assembly plant in Ethiopia,” Abraham said.
