Dongfang tipped for Ethiopia wind
China’s Dongfang has been chosen to kick-start Ethiopia’s Aysha 300MW wind farm project, according to reports from the African nation
Dongfang – which is already heavily involved in Ethiopia’s hydropower sector – is said to be poised to build the 120MW first phase of the project, which will use 1.5MW turbines.
Reports carried on state media outlets and the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry’s website said the board of the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo) has just approved the start of construction.
No timelines are given for the project, which is due to be followed by two further phases to bring it up to full power.
