Ethiopia: Ministry of Industry Signs Agreement With the China Association of Industry Zones 

The Ministry of Industry has signed an agreement with the Chinese Association of Industry Zones for the construction of a new Economic Zone in Dire Dawa. According to the agreement the Association will draft a master plan for the Economic and Industry Zone which will be built in Dire Dawa and a special study for the construction of the Zone.
The Association will provide support during and after the construction of the economic zone. Ambassador Seyoum Mesfin said the agreement will play a vital role in Ethiopia's effort to build up an industry-led economy. He also expressed his strong belief that the Association would be an important ally in the effort to build an industrial economy.
Sisay Gemetchu, the State Minister of Industry, who noted that the industry zones which are being constructed across the country also take into consideration agricultural development in Ethiopia, said this agreement will itself provide a great incentive for foreign investors considering Ethiopia's as their next potential destination. The Head of the Chinese Association expressed his appreciation to Ethiopia's efforts to attract foreign investment and build an industrial economy.
