Ethiopian ministry of health announced that it has constructed about 20,000 health facilities in the past 3 years. State minister Kebede Worku told ENA the ministry has so far undertaken various upgrading projects while it builds many new health centers across the nation.
According to him, this is happening to meet the target of the ministry set in the GTP. The health facilities are, reportedly, being equipped with equipment and health professionals to make them fully operational.
When the construction of new 185 hospitals comes to a conclusion, the total number of hospitals in the country will be 300. Ethiopian health sector's unparalleled achievement has been hailed by international institutions and countries funding the health sector.
The GTP aims to improve service delivery, and the number of health professionals serving in its facilities as it simultaneously continues to build the capacity of health professionals.
